Money movement, now reconciled: Brisc partners with Dream Payments

There's a conversation we keep having with insurance finance leaders, and it always ends in the same place.

It starts with growth. A new program, a new relationship, a new line of business. Underwriting is ready, distribution is ready, the paper is signed. And then finance asks the question that stalls the room: who's going to reconcile it?

Because every new program arrives with one or more FTEs attached. Premium will flow in through credit cards and bank transfers. Claims will flow out via EFT, checks etc. Claims and risk bordereaux are separate. And somewhere between the bank statement, the bordereau, and the policy admin system, a person will spend their days matching one to the other. When the book grows, that team grows. We’ve sat across from carriers who could not launch new programs until finance found the headcount to reconcile them. Because the matching, reporting, and audit teams didn't scale.

The money movement side of this problem got solved. That's what Dream Payments does, and does exceptionally well: a two-way insurance payment network across North America, collecting premium and disbursing claims for carriers, MGAs, and TPAs, embedded in the platforms insurers already run.

But moving money and accounting for it are two halves of the same job, and until now only one half was automated. The risk doesn't sit in any one system. It sits in the gaps between them: between the bank and the bordereau, between the remittance and the policy record, between what was reported and what was actually paid. Clean payment data is not the same thing as a verified cash position.

Today, those two halves ship together. Dream Payments is launching Dream Hannah, powered by Brisc AI.

"An insurance payment isn't done when the money lands. It's done when it's matched,” said Sanjay Malhotra, CEO of Brisc AI. "Dream moves the money; we make sure every dollar lands matched. Premium and claims can arrive reconciled and audit-ready in the insurer’s books, so carriers and MGAs get faster closes and a clean audit trail without adding headcount.”

Here’s what that means in practice. As premium and claims move through Dream’s payment network, the matching is designed to happen alongside them. Dream Hannah, powered by Brisc's Reconciliation Analyst:

  • Reads each payment as it lands
  • Matches premium to the policy and the bordereau and matches claims payouts back to the claim record
  • Flags the exceptions that need a human decision
  • Builds the audit trail automatically

The goal: the insurer's finance team opens their books to find cash applied, not cash waiting.

There's a structural reason this works better than reconciling downstream, and it's the reason we built this partnership. A reconciliation team working from raw bank lines has to infer what each payment is for. A payment that travels through Dream's network already carries its policy and claim references. The matching starts clean because the payment already knows the policy. That's not an incremental improvement in reconciliation. It's reconciliation moved to the one place in the flow where the ambiguity never gets a chance to accumulate.

The numbers behind that claim: our Reconciliation Analyst runs at 97%+ match accuracy. Deployments typically reach 80% straight-through matching in the first month and pass 90% by day ninety, as the system absorbs each broker's and capital partner's remittance patterns. And it retains what it learns. The quirk in one coverholder's Q3 file, the alias a broker uses on wire references, the timing pattern of a program's remittances: knowledge that today lives in your most senior analyst's head, and leaves when they do, stays in the system and gets applied to every payment, every time.

For the CFO, the math is simple. Faster closes, because matched premium updates as payments land instead of at month end. A clean audit trail on every dollar, premium and claims both, because auditability is built into how the Analyst works, not bolted on afterward. And a growth path that doesn’t run through a hiring plan: when the book doubles, reconciliation capacity is a configuration change, not a recruitment cycle.

For Dream’s clients, all of this arrives through a relationship they already have, on rails they already trust, inside platforms they already run. No new procurement cycle. No new banking relationship. Reconciliation simply becomes something the payment network does.

We've been working with Dream on their own data ahead of this launch, and the partnership has the quality the best ones do: each side complements the other’s strengths. Dream runs the money movement. Brisc closes the settlement gap the rails leave open. Together, an insurance payment stops being a to-do item for someone in finance and starts being what it should have been all along: settled.

"Payments were never the whole job. Every dollar moved creates matching work for someone in finance," said Brent Ho-Young, CEO of Dream Payments. "With Brisc, our clients get faster, more predictable reconciliation, with full visibility into every dollar and no added headcount. We don't just move insurance money anymore. We settle it."
